May Days: It’s Either Love Or A Cry For Love

Ahhhh, I love spring in Portland!  My body is so happy to be receiving more sunlight and warmth and there are delightful flowering trees and gardens everywhere!

My body has also been happy to be moving a bit more.  As you may know, I injured my achilles tendon last year and because I kept re-injuring it, I took a break from dance.  Recently, I have been getting back into teaching YogAdagio in a private series and it’s bringing me a heightened awareness around loving the body and being in communion with the body.

I also know a lot of people who have been having on-going illnesses and challenges with their body relationships lately, so I’m feeling inspired to share what has been coming up for me, and maybe it will be helpful!

Lately, I’ve been carefully watching a pattern of how I give to the body in order to get something in return.  Thoughts like, “I should exercise so I look more attractive” are pretty common, or “I should drink more water so my skin looks and feels better.”

It doesn’t feel very loving.  In fact, it feels like a business transaction.  When I am gifting from a place of love, it’s totally unconditional.  When I’m giving to get, I get frustrated when the body doesn’t deliver its part of the deal.  A deal it never agreed to!  LOL

How often are we giving to our bodies in order to GET?  It’s pretty crazy, right?

Another thing this brings up for me, is a truth that I trust to be true, even though I am not yet able to fully live it.  And it is this: that the true function of the body is to be a learning tool to help us wake up!

What if everything painful the body is showing us, every illness, every injury, every discomfort, is like a red flag that is alerting us to the opportunity to choose again, to choose wisely, and to choose LOVE?

If we truly knew this to be true, would we not embrace these opportunities and be grateful for them?

I invite you to join me in placing your hand on your body and say, “Thank you!  Thank you for helping me to WAKE UP!  Thank you for showing me an opportunity to choose to be the love I truly am!”

And the next time you have an unloving thought about your body, please join with me in remembering not to judge ourselves as failures for having these thoughts, but rather, to see them as they are, which is merely a cry for love.  Would you answer a cry for love with anything other than love?

Here’s wishing you a merry and LOVING month of May!

Infinite Love & Gratitude,
Tatiana
